UK ROYAL BABY

Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to boy

By Duncan Mil

April 23, 2018 - The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy, Kensington Palace has confirmed. Kate and William’s new son was born at 10:00GMT on Monday, just hours after the Duchess was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in central London.

The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

The baby’s title will be HRH Prince (name) of Cambridge and he will become fifth-in-line to the throne, pushing Prince Harry down to sixth.

The new baby is the first royal prince who will not overtake his older sister in the line of succession to the throne. Ancient royal succession rules meant male heirs always took precedence over girls, but the laws were changed in 2013.

The child’s name will be announced in the next few days.
