By Ninian Carter

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is an American media franchise based on characters that appear in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The coloured lines in the graphic show how the characters and other elements cross over into the different media of the MCU, and through the different phases: -

Phase one (2008-2012) focuses mainly on characters Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America. Phase Two (2013-2015) introduces new heroes in Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. Phase Three (2016-2019) adds five new superheroes to roster with Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Wasp and Captain Marvel. The “Avengers: Infinity War” is mid-way through Phase Three and is the penultimate Avengers movie.

EDITORS: The words in graphics are contained in a downloadable text files. These text files are intended for editors wishing to review the words - and in this case includes a useful listing of the movies by number, date and Phase. The text files can also be passed through Google Translate for a “quick” translation, or sent to a professional translator -- Somebody working in Adobe Illustrator can then replace the words on the graphic with the translated words.
