RallyX team guide 2018
April 14, 2018 - November 25, 2018 - The 2018 Rallycross season comprises 12 events, commencing with the World RX of Catalunya from Apr 14-16. The season concludes in South Africa in November.
The FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) is head-to-head short, sharp racing on mixed surfaces (dirt and asphalt) contained within amphitheatre venues. High-profile drivers are equipped with RX Supercars with over 600bhp and the ability to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than two seconds, faster than an F1 car. World RX debuted in 2014 with a 12-round calendar.
Race meetings are normally run over two days and include four separate qualifying sessions, two knock-out semi-finals and one final.
In the FIA World Rallycross Championship each vehicle must run a lap with a detour once during each single race, called a “Joker lap”. This lap must be at least two seconds slower, therefore the alternative route makes the lap longer.
This season includes a round in the United States for the first time, with the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, scheduled to host the event.
