Apple’s rapid ascent into music streaming

March 14, 2018 - Apple is gaining subscribers to its music streaming service at the rate of 400,000 a week, as it continues to try and usurp market leader Spotify.

Eddy Cue, boss of Apple’s services, revealed at the SXSW Media festival in Austin, Texas, March 9-18, that Apple Music now has 38 million paying subscribers worldwide, of which 8 million are currently taking advantage of Apple Music’s free-month trial period.

AppleMusic also benefits from being preinstalled on millions of iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches and Apple TV (also available to download for PC and Android)
