By Chris Dinsdale

February 25, 2018 - The Tokyo Marathon takes place, with over 36,000 runners expected to participate on the second running of the course that produced new records in both the men’s and women’s races in 2017.

Wilson Kipsang of Kenya will aim to defend his title against fellow countryman Dickson Chumba, while Ethiopians Tesfaye Abera and Feyisa Lilesa will also provide tough opposition. In the women’s race, Ruti Aga, with a personal best time of 2:20:41, heads the field against Ethiopian teammate Berhane Dibaba, who is competing in Tokyo for the fifth successive year.

Tokyo was promoted in 2013 to become one of the six World Marathon Majors, joining the lineup of London, Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York.

Feb 25 Tokyo, Japan
