U.S. names prominent Russians

By Duncan Mil

January 31, 2018 - The U.S. has named 210 Russians, all with close ties to President Vladimir Putin, to dissuade global institutions from doing business with them for alleged U.S. election meddling and the annexation of Crimea.

The individuals on the U.S. Treasury Department list aren’t subject to any restrictions, but the publication of their names in connection with Putin and U.S. sanctions will serve as a warning to Banks and financial institutions dealing with them that they might have a problem with the U.S. government in the future.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says that publication of the list is an attempt to meddle in the country’s March 18 election.
