Inside Vegas shooter’s 10 minutes of carnage

By Mike Tyler

October 5, 2017 - Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock fired at concertgoers for a full 10 minutes from his 32nd-floor suite at the Mandalay Bay hotel, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds before turning the gun on himself.

There were 75 minutes between the first shot being fired by Paddock and police entering his hotel suite, according to a timeline presented by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo.

The first officers responding to the attack arrived at the 32nd-floor suite at 22:17 PDT, within 12 minutes of the first shot.

When they assessed the situation, they evacuated nearby rooms and waited for backup from a SWAT team to enter the room. The SWAT team found Paddock was dead, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
