Construction starts on models of proposed Mexico border wall
September 29, 2017 - Construction work is underway on U.S. President Donald Trump’s long-promised border wall designed to stop illegal immigration from Mexico, with contractors building eight prototypes in the San Diego area.
Six contractors from across the country have been selected to build the prototypes, half of which will be constructed of concrete and the other half of “other materials”. The models will be up to 30ft (9m) high and 30ft long and are expected to be completed within 30 days.
The eight prototypes, which cost up to $500,000 each, will be built into existing wall sections so that officials can evaluate them and gauge their effectiveness.
