Star Trek returns with first TV show in 12 years

September 24, 2017 - Star Trek, the iconic science fiction franchise created more than 50 years ago by Gene Roddenberry, returns with a new television series, Star Trek: Discovery, set to premiere on CBS.

The first season will consist of 15 episodes, featuring a new ship, new characters and new missions, set a decade before the events in the original series.

Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green of “The Walking Dead,” as central character, First Officer Michael Burnham. She is the foster daughter of the Vulcan Sarek, who is Spock's father. The series also stars Jason Isaacs, Michelle Yeoh and Shazad Latif.
