PyeongChang Olympic Cross-Country Skiing

By Mike Tyler

February 9, 2018 - February 25, 2018 - Cross-Country Skiing is one of 24 sporting competitions of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang 2018, South Korea.

The word for skiing comes from the Old Norse “skid” or split length of wood, on which ancient Scandinavians would travel across the snowy terrain. Cross-country skiing is the direct descendant of that activity, and has been an Olympic sport since 1924, comprising 12 individual and team events using either the classic or freestyle skating technique over various distances.
