February 9, 2018 - February 25, 2018 - South Korea is hosting the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. The 24 sporting competitions across the 15 disciplines of the Olympic Winter Games are represented by 24 pictograms. The design for the pictograms is based on the Korean alphabet - Hangeul, a system of letters unique to Korea with 16 vowels and 14 consonants. For the design of the pictograms, four consonants and three vowels were selected together with the representative pose for each sport.
