London tower block fire

By Duncan Mil

June 14, 2017 - A massive fire has engulfed a 24-storey block of flats in west London, trapping residents, with a significant number of people unaccounted for.

Forty fire engines rushed to the Lancaster West Estate, North Kensington, shortly after 1.15am local time (00:15GMT). At least 50 injured people were taken to local hospitals and several fatalities have been reported by the London Fire Brigade.

Eyewitnesses reported people screaming for help from windows as the fire took hold of the buildings. Some residents were seen using bedsheets to make their escape from the tower block.
