North Korean nuclear test

By Duncan Mil

April 10, 2017 - America’s Carl Vinson carrier strike group is moving toward the North Korean coast amid heightened concerns that Pyongyang is about to conduct its sixth nuclear weapons test within days.

Since the start of 2017 the isolated regime has already carried out at least seven ballistic missile test launches and also appears to be continuing the design and development of nuclear payloads, reports Joseph Dempsey of the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Pyongyang has repeatedly warned that it aims to test an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) or conduct another underground nuclear test. Analysts say one could come as soon as April 15 — the anniversary of the birth of state founder Kim Il Sung.

The possibility of U.S. military action against North Korea in response to such a test emerged as an option following last week's U.S. strikes against Syria.
