Chinese Super League breaks transfer records

By Chris Dinsdale

March 1, 2017 - The Chinese Super League set a new spending record of €389m (£331m) in the winter transfer window despite pleas to limit outlay on foreign players and curb substantial wage bills.

Founded in 2004, there are currently 16 teams in the league. Each team has 18 players, of which up to 4 can be foreign plus one player of Asian origin (but only 3 of these can play in a particular match) and 2 domestic players have to be under the age of 23.
