March 26, 2017 - November 12, 2017 - The 2017 MotoGP season, commencing with the Qatar GP, will include motorcycles from 12 Teams and 23 riders.

Marc Marquez, 23, begins his defence of the MotoGP World Championship. Last season the Spanish rider became the youngest 3 time world champion but will have to fend off fierce competition from the likes of multiple world champion Valentino Rossi and fellow country man Jorge Lorenzo.

Grand Prix motorcycles are purpose-built prototypes that are not available for purchase and can not be driven legally on public roads. They are estimated to be worth about $2 million US each as they can not easily be replaced. The highest recorded speed for a MotoGP motorcycle is 361 km/h (224 mph), set by Andrea Dovizioso, during the warmup at the 2016 Qatar Grand Prix.

The 69th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (F.I.M) Road Racing World Championship takes place betweem March 26 and November 12, 2017 over 18 circuits. It will include motorcycles from 6 constructors (Aprilla, Ducati, Honda, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha) in 12 teams.

The FIM is based in Mies, Switzerland and has 112 affiliated National Motorcycles Federations (FMN) over six continents
