Trump inauguration flags

By Duncan Mil

January 20, 2017 - Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 45th President of the United States of America will take place against a backdrop of 7.6-metre banners symbolizing the history of the United States.

The five flags are being handmade by three seamstresses at San Antonio-based Dixie Flag and Banner.

“The first one in the middle pillar is the 50-star flag, which represents our current flag. The two on either side represent the incoming president,” said Gedi Kiflezgi, marketing director of Dixie Flag.

Trump is from the state of New York which is the 11th congressional district. Since there is no such thing as an 11-star flag, as the U.S. started with 13 colonies, Trump will have 13 stars behind him.

“The last two colours that go on the end is the Betsy Ross, one of the most famous historical flags with the circle of stars,” Kiflezgi said.
