July 15, 2016 - Theresa May became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, replacing David Cameron following his defeat in the Brexit referendum on leaving the European Union. May, 59, was first elected to parliament in 1997 and served as Home Secretary following the Conservatives’ election victory in 2010. She is Britain’s second woman prime minister.
