South China Sea disputed claims

July 12, 2016 - An international court in The Hague is to release a landmark ruling in a dispute between China and the Philippines over the South China Sea. Several nations claim territory in the resource-rich sea, which is also an important shipping route. The ruling, the first time an international tribunal has ruled on any of these disputes, risks ratcheting up tensions in Southeast Asia.
