Election fails to break deadlock
June 27, 2016 - Spanish elections have delivered a hung parliament for the second time in six months, adding to political uncertainty in Europe after the shock Brexit vote and increasing pressure on the country’s warring politicians to form a government. The conservative People’s Party (PP) of acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has won most seats but is short of a majority, leaving the euro zone’s fourth-largest economy at risk of another lengthy political stalemate or even of a third general election.
