Capt Cooks’ Endeavour found

By Jordi Bou

May 3, 2016 - Researchers in the U.S. believe they have located the wreckage of the Endeavour, a ship sailed by the famous British explorer James Cook, which was lost in Newport Harbour during the revolutionary war.

Capt. Cook set sail on Endeavour -- a British-built coal ship -- in 1768 on a voyage to map the Pacific Ocean. In 1770 he arrived off the south-east coast of what is now Australia, taking possession in the name of the Crown.
