Nationalist party wins election

By Jordi Bou

October 26, 2015 - A landslide election victory for Poland’s conservative opposition ends eight years of centrist rule and could set the former communist state on a collision course with key European Union allies. The Law and Justice party (PiS), of veteran nationalist Jaroslaw Kaczynski, is projected to win 37.7% of vote, enough to give a slim majority, the first in the 26-year history of democratic Poland.
