George Harrisons Mastersound guitar

By Duncan Mil

May 15, 2015 - May 16, 2015 - A guitar played by George Harrison in the Beatles’ early days is the star item at a two-day music memorabilia auction at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square, New York City.

Harrison borrowed the Maton Mastersound MS-500 guitar from Barratt’s Music in Manchester in July 1963 while his Gretsch Country Gentleman was under repair. The Beatle was photographed playing it at concerts in the Cavern Club in Liverpool and on the Channel Islands. The instrument is expected to sell for $400,000 to $600,000.
