UK ELECTION
Nicola Sturgeon 2015
May 7, 2015 - Nicola Sturgeon is the leader of the Scottish National Party and the First Minister of Scotland, the first woman to hold either position. She was elected leader of the SNP in November 2014, following the “No” vote in the Scottish independence referendum and the subsequent resignation of then-leader Alex Salmond. Since then the party has surged in the polls to more than 50% and is predicted to win up to 54 of Scotland’s 59 seats in the UK general election on May 7, meaning that Sturgeon could be key to Labour leader Ed Miliband’s hopes of forming a government in the event of a hung parliament.
