April 21, 2015 - Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and is the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom. While he has no established constitutional role, the Prince undertakes royal duties in support of the Queen both in the UK and internationally.

In the mid-1970s he set up The Prince’s Trust, which has grown to become a network of 16 charities representing the largest multi-cause charitable enterprise in the UK.

The Prince was born at Buckingham Palace on November 14, 1948, and was christened Charles Philip Arthur George. In 1981 he married Lady Diana Spencer, with whom he had two sons, William, born 1982, and Harry, born 1984, but the couple divorced in 1996, a year before Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris. In 2005 Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, who became known as the Duchess of Cornwall.
