April 1, 2015 - An alarming number of countries are using the death penalty to tackle real or perceived threats to state security, according to Amnesty International. At least 2,466 people were sentenced to death in 2014, an increase of 28% compared with 2013, mainly because of sharp rises in Egypt and Nigeria
