Abducted students

By Duncan Mil

October 28, 2014 - Mexican authorities searching for 43 students abducted after clashing with police in September are investigating a mass grave in the town of Cocula. 56 police officers, local officials and drug gang members have been arrested.

The students’ disappearance has undermined President Enrique Pena Nieto’s pledge to restore order to Mexico. In his state-of-the-nation speech last month the president, trumpeted: “Eighty four of the 122 most dangerous delinquents no longer represent a threat to society.”
