May 25, 2014 - Multi-award-winng actor Ian McKellen celebrates his 75th birthday. In a career spanning more than 50 years his work has ranged from Shakespearean and modern theatre to popular fantasy and science fiction, with notable recent film roles including Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies and Magneto in the X-Men films. He is also an outspoken activist for legal and social equality for gay people worldwide.
