Titanic discoveries (2)

December 21, 2011 - RMS Titanic has provided valuable insight into science’s understanding of what happens to shipwrecks lying deep below the ocean surface. Studies by the Halifax-based Bedford Institute of Oceanography reveal that the ship is slowly being eaten by bacteria that feast on the steel, creating so-called rusticles; and Titanic's hull plates were brittle, which allowed the iceberg to do so much damage.
