US Wahl der Demokraten - Vorwahlen und Delegierte

January 5, 2024 - Amtierender Präsident Joe Biden hat zwei Herausforderer für die Nominierung der Demokraten zur Präsidentenwahl im November, der US Repräsentant für Minnesota, Dean Phillips, und die Autorin Marianne Williamson.

Biden is overwhelming favourite to maintain his position as the Democrat nominee, and is confident of winning a second and final four-year term, most likely in a re-run of the 2020 election when he defeated Donald Trump.

However, Minnesota Congressman Phillips is standing solely because he fears Biden could lose to Trump in November and has said he will look at the poll numbers in the summer before considering standing down.

Williamson’s is a long-shot bid but the onetime spiritual adviser to Oprah Winfrey has struck a defiant tone and warned against complacency by those who aren’t taking her candidacy seriously.
