Japan drängt US Militär die Osprey Flugzeuge am Boden zu lassen

By Jordi Bou

November 30, 2023 - Japan hat das US Militär ersucht, alle nicht-dringenden V-22 Osprey Flüge über seinem Gebiet einzustellen, nachdem einer dieser Jets der US Luftwaffe in einen schweren Unfall verwickelt war.

Japan's NHK broadcaster said the CV-22 Osprey hybrid plane had been trying to land at Yakushima Airport with one engine on fire.

The U.S. Air Force said the cause of the mishap during a routine training mission, which killed at least one person, is currently unknown. Search and rescue operations to find the remaining seven crew are still ongoing.

The Osprey, developed by Bell Helicopters and Boeing and which can operate like a helicopter or a fixed-wing plane, has suffered a string of fatal crashes over the years.
