US Stand der Massenerschießungen
May 10, 2023 -
The FBI defines mass killings as incidents in which four or more victims, not counting the assailant, are killed within 24 hours. Most mass killings are mass shootings.
A gunman killed eight people -- including two elementary school students -- in Saturday’s (May 6, 2023) deadly attack at Allen Premium Outlets, a bustling mall in the affluent Dallas suburb of Allen.
The shooter, believed to have acted alone, was killed by a police officer at the scene, authorities said. The Allen, Texas attack is the second-deadliest U.S. mass shooting of the year.
The U.S. usually experiences about six mass killings in public places per year, with 13 in 2021 being the highest it has ever seen in a single year. 2023 has already seen high-profile mass shootings in California, Kentucky, and Tennessee, claiming the lives of 115 people.
