EU bereitet sich auf noch mehr ukrainische Flüchtlinge vor

The European Union is preparing for a possible increase in refugees fleeing Ukraine this winter as Russia targets its power infrastructure for destruction.

Ukraine’s President Zelenskiy has warned EU leaders that Russia is trying to create a new “wave of resettlement” to the EU by cutting off electricity and heat this winter.

A Russian aerial bombardment that began on October 10 has destroyed 30 percent of Ukraine’s electrical power generation capacity, making Kyiv and other large cities subject to rolling power blackouts and interrupted water supplies.

Zelenskiy says his country needs to raise €17 billion to rebuild destroyed infrastructure. Thus far, the EU has failed to deliver on its pledges, with an undertaking of €9 billion of financial aid only partially handed over.
