Eine mächtige russische Rakete explodierte in knapp 300m Entfernung der Reaktoren des Südukrainischen Atomkraftwerks ein, rund 110km nördlich der Stadt Mikolaiv, hat zu neuerlicher Furcht vor einer Strahlenkatastrophe geführt.
The blast which took place shortly after midnight on Monday damaged power plant buildings as well as a nearby hydroelectric power plant and transmission lines. All three reactors were operating normally, according to Reuters.
Another Ukrainian nuclear power plant at Zaporizhya – which is Europe’s largest and lies about 250 km east of the Mykolaiv site – was shut down earlier this month due to Russian shelling, prompting concerns about a possible nuclear disaster, Reuters said.
