Boeing’s geschäftige Farnborough Schau

By Duncan Mil

In addition, Boeing signed orders with 777 Partners, Aircompany Armenia, ANA Holdings -- All Nippon Airways parent company -- Aviation Capital, Azerbaijan Airlines, BBAM, Cargolux and Saltchuk Aviation.

Boeing had orders for 223 aircraft and 106 commitments for additional jetliners.

In contrast, European rival Airbus booked just 85 new orders. Airbus inked an order for 12 single-aisle A220s from Delta, finalized a commitment from British low-cost carrier EasyJet for 56 A320s, and Latin America's LATAM ordered 17 long-range single-aisle A321s.

In an interview late Wednesday, Airbus sales chief Christian Scherer was unruffled. He pointed out that he'd beaten Boeing on sales through the year's first half and landed a huge order from China just before the air show.

"We're well past 500 orders, not even counting the 300 we announced earlier this month, and the year is halfway through," Scherer said.

"Don't worry about our sales ability," he said. "We're doing really well, thank you very much."

On the final day, Qatar's order for 25 single-aisle 737 MAX 10s was a Boeing win that emerged from Qatar's ongoing legal dispute with Airbus.
