June 27, 2022 - Der Präsident der Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski drängt die Weltmächte, am G7 Gipfel in Deutschland, ihre Unterstützung für die Ukraine noch zu verstärken, da seit Wochen doch wieder russische Raketen auf Kiew abgeschossen worden sind.

Russia stepped up air strikes on Ukraine over the weekend, including on the capital of Kyiv, while the strategic eastern city of Severodonetsk fell to pro-Russian forces.

Zelenskiy’s speech at the G7 summit comes as Russia looked set for its first sovereign default in decades as some bondholders said they had not received overdue interest on Monday following the expiry of a key payment deadline a day earlier.

Russia has struggled to keep up payments on $40 billion of outstanding bonds since its invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24, as sweeping sanctions have effectively cut the country off from the global financial system and rendered its assets untouchable to many investors, Reuters reports.
