Jun 2-5, UK: Celebrations take place for the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, the world’s longest-serving female head of state. She is the
first sovereign in the 1,000-year history of the British monarchy to reign for 70 years.

Jun 12, 19, France: Fresh from winning a second term as president, Emmanuel Macron faces legislative elections that will determine whether he has a parliamentary majority to vote through his pro-business agenda.

Jun 16, U.S.: FIFA announces the host cities for the 2026 World Cup. 22 cities are vying for the chance to stage matches at the 48-team tournament, held for the first time across three nations – the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Jun 22-26, UK: Billie Eilish, 20, will be the youngest ever headliner as the Glastonbury Festival returns after a two-year break.

Jun 24, New Zealand: Matariki, the Maori new year, becomes a public holiday. Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern promised to make it an official holiday during her 2020 election campaign.

Jun 26-28, Germany: A major aid package for Ukraine is expected to be decided at the annual G7 summit of the world’s economic powers, hosted by Chancellor Olaf Scholz at Schloss Elmau in the Bavarian Alps.

Jun 29-30, Spain: NATO’s new Strategic Concept – the alliance’s fundamental political guideline – will be renewed at the Madrid summit for the first time since 2010. It is expected to mark the end of the post-Cold War era in Europe.

June, U.S.: The Supreme Court is expected to strike down the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade ruling that established a nationwide right to an abortion, clearing the way for the procedure to be banned or tightly restricted in 26 states.
