Steven Gerrard kehrt in die Premier League zurück

Aston Villa have appointed former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard as their new manager on a three-and-a-half year deal. Gerrard returns to the Premier League after a successful reign at Rangers -- guiding the club to the Scottish Premiership title last season.

The 30th Premier League season kicks off, with fierce rivalries played out over 380 enthralling matches. The world’s most watched football league drew an estimated cumulative global audience of 3.2 billion in 2019.

Gerrard takes charge at Aston Villa after the club sacked former coach Dean Smith, with Midlands team on streak of five successive defeats and 16th in the Premier League, only two points above the relegation zone.

Gerrard, who won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, will face his beloved Reds at Anfield on December 11th.
