Wahrnehmung der US Verlässlichkeit ist in Europa ziemlich gemischt

June 8, 2021 - Während Präsident Joe Biden zu seiner ersten Auslandsreise nach Europa aufbricht, zeigt eine Befragung durch den Deutschen Marshall Fund und der Bertelsmann Foundation, dass es ihm nicht gelungen ist,das Ansehen der Vereinigten Staaten auf den Stand vor der Covid-19 Pandemie zu bringen.

According to the survey, only 51% of Germans see the United States as a reliable partner, rising to 60% in France, 67% in Britain and 76% in Poland. Fewer than a quarter of Turks trust the United States. Most Americans regard the European Union as a reliable partner, the study said.

Biden embarks on his first European tour as president on Wednesday to attend G7, NATO and European Union summits. He faces the challenge of repairing transatlantic ties damaged by his predecessor Donald Trump, whose withdrawal from international agreements and sharp criticism of NATO undermined European faith in Washington, Reuters said.
