Europa’s Labyrinth der Vorschriften für grenzüberschreitende Reisen
May 24, 2021 -
Europa erleichtert langsam die Restriktionen für Reisende, die die Covid-19 Ausbreitung verhindern sollten. Sonnenhungrige dürfen Pläne für Reisen nach Frankreich, Griechenland, Spanien und Italien schmieden.
Germany on Friday classified the UK as an “area of variant concern,” banning all but essential travel to the country. German citizens returning from the UK will need to quarantine from Sunday (May 23).
The German Embassy in London said the new classification is due to “local outbreaks, including cases of more infectious variants such as the Indian variant at present.”
The UK has detected more than 3,850 cases of the Indian variant and its sublineages, with a 160 per cent week-on-week surge observed over the last seven days.
The B.1.617 variant was first discovered in India in October and has spread to more than 50 countries worldwide.
The European Union plans to facilitate free travel within the bloc for those who have been vaccinated, recovered or test negative for the coronavirus. It could take effect within the next week or two.
All EU countries will be required to accept certificates accessible using an app starting July 1.
To enter the UK, amber-listed arrivals from the United States must currently self-isolate for ten days. The UK will add the U.S. to a green list in the run-up to a G-7 summit in England in June.
