Kanu Wettkampf bei Olymp. Spielen in Tokio

July 23, 2021 - August 8, 2021 - Bei den Olymp. Sommerspielen in Tokio 2020 dürfen zum ersten Mal auch Frauen im Kanu teilnehmen. Vorher waren sie nur für Kajak zugelassen. Einige der Events von 2016 in Rio, besonders der Doppel-Kajak-Slalom für Männer wurde aus dem Programm genommen, damit man der Gender Parität Rechnung tragen kann.

Canoeing is divided between slalom and sprint events, using canoes and kayaks.

In slalom, competitors negotiate a whitewater course by weaving through a series of gates against the clock, with time penalties for mistakes such as touching or missing a gate.

In the sprint events, races are held on a flatwater course over 200, 500 and 1,000 metre distances.
