Die Begräbnisfeierlichkeiten für HRH Prinz Philip. Herzog von Edinburgh, werden in der St. Georgs Kapelle in Windsor Castle abgehalten. Die Kapelle ist die letzte Ruhestätte von 10 Monarchen und vielen Gemahlinnen.
Queen Elizabeth’s husband, who died on April 9 aged 99, will have a ceremonial funeral without any public access or public procession to adhere to national Covid guidelines.
Prince Philip will lie at rest in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle until the funeral. There will be no lying in state, in accordance with his wishes. On the day of the funeral the coffin will be moved from the State Entrance to St George’s Chapel for the funeral service.
The service will begin with a national minute of silence. At the end of the service the duke will be interred in the Royal Vault in St George’s Chapel. After the Queen dies, he will be transferred to the King George VI Memorial Chapel to lie alongside his wife of 73 years.
The funeral will be broadcast live. There will be a period of national mourning until the end of Saturday April 17. The royal family will observe two weeks of royal mourning.
