CO2 Emissionen der Staatschefs

By Ninian Carter

September 25, 2019 - Eine Analyse der CO2 Emissionen von 140 Flügen in das Ausland von sieben G20 Staatschefs ergab, dass Japans Premierminister Shinzo Abe der größte Klimasünder war.

With climate policy high on the agenda of world leaders, how do they themselves rank in terms of CO2 pollution?

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe tops the list of G20 politicians who have flown the most and created the greatest CO2 emissions.

Abe’s Boeing 747-400 covered 207,000 kilometres, emitting nearly 14,500 tonnes of CO2 (in April 2019, the jet was replaced by a Boeing 777-300ER).

Ranking as the second largest CO2 polluter is U.S. President Donald Trump with 11,490 tonnes. Although Trump only flew 60 percent of the distance of Shinzo Abe, at 131,000 kilometres, he still managed to create 80 percent of Abe’s CO2 emissions.

Trump’s Air Force One jet has the highest CO2 emissions per kilometre (88 kilograms) of all the aircraft analysed.
