London Marathon 2019

April 28, 2019 - Mehr als 35.000 Elite, Klub und sonstige Läufer werden für den 39. London Marathon erwartet. Start ist in Blackheath in Greenwich, das Ende ist auf The Mall vor dem Buckingham Palast.

The London Marathon will once again feature some of the greatest long distance runners in history, with elite fields for both the men’s and women’s races promising to be highly competitive.

The men’s field is headed by reigning champion Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya, who is aiming to win his fourth London title in five years. He set a new world record time for the men’s marathon in Berlin last year -- sparking debate on when the two-hour barrier will be officially broken. Shura Kitata (Ethiopia) and Mo Farah (Great Britain), who both finished on the podium in 2018, also compete again this year.

In the women’s field Kenya’s Mary Keitany is also aiming to win the London Marathon for a fourth time, matching the feat she achieved in New York City in 2018. She will face tough opposition from 2018 winner Vivian Cheruiyot (Kenya), and debutante Birhane Dibaba (Ethopoa), who won the Tokyo Marathon in February.

The London Marathon is the third of the six World Marathon Majors of 2019. The full list is:
Mar 3 Tokyo, Japan
Apr 15 Boston, U.S.
Apr 28 London, UK
Sep 29 Berlin, Germany
Oct 13 Chicago, U.S.
Nov 3 New York, U.S.
