Grand Canyon bekämpft Uranabbau
February 26, 2019 -
Companies hoping to mine uranium near the Grand Canyon are edging closer to that goal with uranium included on a list of 35 minerals the Department of Interior considers to be “critical.”
It is federal policy to seek new sources of domestic minerals on the critical list, including exploration and mining of areas rich in deposits.
As the Grand Canyon National Park celebrates the centenary of its founding by President Woodrow Wilson on Feb 26, 1919, President Trump is considering lifting a 20-year ban on mining in the area around the park, implemented in 2012 under the Obama admininstration.
