Wahl in Schweden: Rechtsruck

September 10, 2018 - Schweden ist das letzte europäische Land, in dem Rechtsparteien auf Zuwächse verweisen können. Die regierenden Rot-Grünen erhielten 40,6% der Stimmen oder 144 Sietze im Reichstag, während die Opposition, die Allianz für Schweden auf 40,3% und 142 Sitze kommt.
Die einwanderungsfeindlichen Schwedischen Demokraten erhielten 17,6% der Stimmen und 63 Sitze.

Even though the two main blocs have pledged not to work with the Sweden Democrats, its increased support has fuelled fears of the rise of a far-right party with roots in the neo-Nazi movement.

In 2015, Sweden, a country of 10.1 million people, took in more than 160,000 asylum-seekers.

At a rally after the polls had closed, Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said he would remain in office in the coming weeks and called for cooperation across the political divide.
