September 18, 2018 - June 1, 2019 - Europas neue Champions League Saison startet am 18. September und endet mit dem Finale am 1. Juni 2019 in Spaniens Estadio Metropolitano, dem neuen Hauptquartier von Real Madrid.
Die regierenden Champions Real Madrid spielen gegen Roma, CSKA Moskau und Victoria Plzen in der Gruppenphase.Die Finalisten von 2018, Liverpool, treten gegen Paris St-Germein, Napoli und Roter Stern Belgrad an. Weiters wird der fünffache Champions League Sieger Cristiano Ronaldo mit seinem neuen Club Juventus gegen Manchester United spielen. Im Sommer erfolgte sein €100m Transfer zu den Italienern.

The UEFA Champions League is contested by the highest ranked teams of the strongest UEFA national associations. It is the top club competition in European football and one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world.

The Champions League final is the most watched annual sporting event worldwide. The final of the 2012-13 tournament had the highest TV ratings to date, drawing 360 million television viewers. It was played at Wembley Stadium in London, England, where Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund in the first all-German Champions League final.

Real Madrid are the defending champions, having won the title for three successive seasons in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.
