Europas höchstes Gebäude wird in Kürze fertig gestellt

August 8, 2018 - Das Lakhta Centre in St. Petersburg in Russland wird der höchste Wolkenkratzer in Europa, höher als der Moskauer Federation Tower. Mit 462 Meter Höhe steht es an 13. Stelle der höchsten Gebäude der Welt.

The RMJM-designed building takes the form of a spire with five wings that twist a total of 90 degrees from foundation to tip, making it one of the tallest examples of a twisted skyscraper, according to online architecture magazine Dezeen.

The 87-storey tower features a publicly accessible observation deck at 360 metres, and a planned restaurant with panoramic views of the area.

The building’s facade is made from 16,500 pieces of curved glass, with a system of automatic shutters to make it energy efficient.

The exterior is set for completion by the end of summer, while the interior fitting will continue into next year. Two thirds of the office space will be occupied by Russian energy giant Gazprom, which will employ 8,000 workers at the site.

A third of the complex will be given over to public spaces, including a science and education centre, a spherical planetarium, a concert hall, amphitheatre and several squares.
