The XXXII Olympic Games in Japan, July 24 - August 9, 2020, will be the 16th Olympic games covered by Graphic News - an Olympic record in itself!
With the IOC aiming to make the Games more “youthful” and “urban”, and to increase the number of female participants, there will be an extra 30 medal events, five new sports, and 15 new events within existing sports. These will include 3-on-3 basketball, freestyle BMX and Madison cycling, as well as new mixed-gender events across several sports (athletics, swimming, table tennis and triathlon).

Across all the sports Tokyo will bring together the best athletes in the world in a competition in which simply taking part - being an Olympian - is the experience of a lifetime.

Whether you are following Olympic heroes, supporting your local and national athletes, or an athlete yourself, Graphic News gives the international context to bring the Games into focus.
