FAQ: DOWNLOADING
If an item is selected and payed for at checkout, an email is sent with a link to a page from which the items may be downloaded. If an item is obtained using a credit you can download straight away without going through checkout.FAQ: How do I know which format to download? For example, what does ZIP.print mean?
At the point of download the separately downloadable files are not identified by the actual filename, but by simple descriptions. ZIP.Print is therefore a zip file that will decompress to give all the formats available for print. A key to all the descriptors used is given at DOWNLOADABLE FILES
FAQ: How are files named? I need to know this to find the file on my computer.
When a file has been downloaded you need to know it's actual filename to identify it. A key to how files are named is given at FILENAMES. Essentially look for a file starting with the prefix GN and followed by five numbers e.g. GN12345

FAQ: What determines if I can download graphics straight away when I click on the download button (i.e. download express), or if have to pay at checkout?
To download express (i.e. straight away) you need to have "credits" available. Media publishers with unlimited subscriptions are set up with a default number of "credits" so contact us if you don't have enough. Members get some credits with their membership but can pay for additional credits at checkout if needed.
FAQ: Why can't you just give a link so I can download everything all at once?
Downloading items "one-at-a-time" enables you to select which formats you want, rather than have all format options forced on you. In addition, if your internet connection isn't good and you have selected large files, downloading one-at-a-time makes it easier to redownload if your line is interrupted.
FAQ: What do I do if the format I want isn't available to me?
Contact us. This could be because the format you want is missing from the archive, or because your account hasn't been set up correctly, or because the account you have doesn't include that format. We will be able to check this out to get a solution.

Most users can access all (except restricted) content. Other with fixed price deals, can be are set up to access only Sport, for example, or only Formula 1. Contact us to check your account has been set up correctly.
FAQ: What happens if a downloaded file is corrupted, or the format I want is missing?
Contact us. Sometimes files are corrupted during the download process - particularly large files over poor internet connections. If this happens (or if you have mislaid a file on your computer) you can simply re-download it from your account. If you still have problems we will check the archive, and if this is corrupted or lost, we will re-issue from backups.
FAQ: What happens if a downloaded file is later updated?
You can download the updated version at no additional cost.
FAQ: Can I get a graphic in more than one language?
No problem. You can download alternative language versions at no additional cost. Just select the alternative language from he archive
FAQ: What happens if a graphic is only available in legacy formats? ("Fuzzy preview" or no preview)
Large preview images are missing for some archive items (or only "fuzzy previews" are visible) because the archive stretches back over 30 years. At that time very low resolution previews were created because, for example, a 150K file (the size of a modern day preview) would take 10 minutes to download! These legacy graphics are being reissued because the archive offers a unique historic record of the news over the last 30 years. If we havn't reissued the one you want Contact Us.
FAQ: Can I get a graphic in EPS format?
We don't store files in EPS format in the archive because the filesizes can be astronomically larger than an AI or PDF. If you have obtained an AI or PDF and want it in EPS, Contact Us as we can give you a separate link to download the EPS (subject to time availability).
