February 11, 2025 - انخفض عدد الزيجات في الصين إلى 6.1 ملايين في العام 2024، وهو انخفاض قياسي بنسبة 20.5% عن العام السابق - مما أدى إلى تفاقم محنة البلاد مع انخفاض عدد السكان.

Marriages in China fell by more than 20% last year, the biggest drop on record, despite efforts by authorities to encourage young couples to wed and have children to boost the country’s waning population.

Only 6.10 million couples registered for marriage in 2024, down from 7.68 million in 2023, figures from the Ministry of Civil Affairs showed.

China has the second-biggest population in the world at 1.41 billion (India has 1.43 billion) – but one that is ageing rapidly.
